Journal of Persian Literature
Journal of Persian Literature is a biannual, peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Faculty of Literature and Humanities at the University of Tehran. It focuses on literary studies and releases two issues per year.
Persian language and literature have long stood as a tempered steel across this land, weathering countless events while holding their banner high. Despite repeated invasions by peoples from both East and West, the sweet Persian tongue not only never abandoned this territory but, by selectively borrowing from foreign languages, underwent remarkable development and transformation. Like a living entity, it has continued to captivate and fascinate people to this day—giving rise to numerous academic chairs worldwide and inspiring the creation of many publications across the globe.
As one of the primary pillars supporting Persian language studies, the University of Tehran seeks to take significant strides in advancing and expanding Persian literature. A core objective of this journal is to examine the evolution, influence, expansion, and development of Persian language in Iran and other Persian-speaking regions, with a firm emphasis on research-oriented frameworks. The journal aims to publish scholarly articles that contribute meaningfully to the vitality and broader reach of Persian literature. Given that Persian language and literature constitute one of the richest treasures of human civilization—bolstered by the antiquity of Iranian peoples, their cultural and literary wealth, the multiplicity of subcultures, and the geographic dispersion of ethnic groups—it is essential to preserve and enhance this cultural richness for generations to come. To that end, Journal of Persian Literature endeavors to publish articles that have played and continue to play a significant role in the field's dynamism and flourishing, across the following areas.
